Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped all 18 shots he faced after relieving starter Alex Lyon 10:14 into the game and the Sabres came back from a 3-1 deficit to rout the Canadiens 8-3 in Montreal in Game 6 on Saturday night. Jack Quinn scored twice, including the go-ahead goal on the power play at 10:54 of the second period, while Rasmus Dahlin had a goal and four assists, scoring the first tally of the game just 32 seconds in. Tage Thompson also scored and added three helpers.

Arber Xhekaj answered Dahlin’s goal just 1:08 later and Ivan Demidov and Jake Evans scored to give Montreal its early lead. Jakub Dobes was yanked after allowing Quinn’s second goal midway through the third period and surrendered six goals on 33 shots. Demidov’s marker came on the power play while Evans’ goal was a shorthanded tally.

The winner advances to play the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals in Raleigh, North Carolina on Thursday night. Thompson comes into Game 7 second in scoring in the playoffs with five goals and 15 points, while Zach Benson also has five goals for the Sabres. Alex Newhook tops the Canadiens with six playoff goals and defenseman Lane Hutson enters Monday with 13 points, including a pair of goals.
