The Canadiens had their three-game streak snapped in their last game against the Detroit Red Wings, but Montreal is only two points back of Detroit for the top spot in the Atlantic Division. The Candiens won Game 1, 4-3, in Vancouver at the end of October. Ivan Demidov scored a goal and added two assists. Vancouver was down two goals, but Montreal scored four straight to pull off the comeback win. The Canadiens are -185 favorites at home tonight to sweep the season series.

Both teams got shut out in their last matchups. The Canadiens lost 4-0 to the Red Wings on Saturday. Detroit took first place in the Atlantic Division in the process. John Gibson was just too tough in net for the Red Wings, stopping 27 shots against their Original Six rival. The biggest headline out of the game for Montreal was that its captain, Nick Suzuki, played in his 500th straight NHL game to start his career. He is only behind Brent Burns of the Colorado Avalanche, who set the record at 969 games.

Vancouver lost even worse on Saturday, getting blanked 5-0 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Joseph Woll was strong in goal, pitching his second shutout of the year after stopping 29 shots. William Nylander returned from injury for the Maple Leafs and was very effective, scoring a goal and adding two assists. Vancouver just couldn’t get on the board despite outshooting Toronto 29-24. Don’t expect another shutout between these teams tonight.
