Crystal Palace travels to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday hoping to spring a surprise over Manchester City and move into the top half of the Premier League after unearthing a vicious run of results. Oliver Glasner has his side in imperious form ahead of the trip north and is looking to go one better than the 1-1 draw these two teams saw out when they met at Selhurst Park in December. The Eagles managed to hold City to a 2-2 draw the last time they visited the Etihad in December 2023, though Pep Guardiola’s men have been exposed as all the more human since then.

A horrendous autumn saw City’s veil of invulnerability stripped down in a major way, and the recovery is still ongoing given the team has won just two of its last five games.

And the Etihad hasn’t been the fortress of old either, with each of Real Madrid and Liverpool beating the Citizens in their own backyard of late, while Brighton managed a 2-2 draw at the ground just last month.

The weekend’s action kicks off with a visit from Palace, who had a disappointing first half of the season but is now undefeated in seven and has won all but one of those.

Glasner’s men have taken 23 points from the last 30 on offer in the Premier League and earned a third straight home win thanks to Daniel Munoz’s winner at home to Brighton last weekend:

That win came at a cost, however, after forward Eddie Nketiah and defender Marc Guehi were each sent off at Selhurst Park in the closing minutes.

Neither will be available for the trip to the Etihad, with England center-back Guehi a particularly big miss at the back for the travelling team.

That should see United States international Chris Richards step into central defense, while Colombia’s Jefferson Lerma has performed well as one of Palace’s three at the back of late.
