Fabian Edwards will headline PFL World Tournament 7 on Friday as the competition moves into the semi-final phase, with one of the biggest MMA events on the planet quickly nearing its climax. And ‘The Assassin’ – younger brother of former UFC welterweight champion Leon – will take on Josh Silveira in the main event as each middleweight contender looks to take a giant step towards the $500,000 grand prize. And the same reward is at stake in the seven other semi-final matchups set to take place at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, as well as a bonus bantamweight showdown between former champ Sergio Pettis and Raufeon Stots.

Both Silveira and Edwards boast 14-4 records heading into their middleweight semi-final, with Dalton Rosta (10-1) and Aaron Jeffery (16-5) set to face off in the other semi earlier in the evening.

‘Coninha’ ended a streak of back-to-back losses by notching a unanimous-decision win over Mike Shopman in the quarters to advance.

Edwards has lost just twice across his last seven fights (both to Johnny Eblen) but has developed a reputation as one of the more aggressive strikers in PFL’s middleweight division:

The other batch of semi-final fixtures to feature on the main card will see Phil Davis and Sullivan Cauley face off for a place in the light heavyweight decider in Friday’s co-main.

Davis, 40, returned from an almost two-year lay-off in May when he finished Rob Wilkinson early in the second round to clinch his place in the semis.

Meanwhile, Cauley made a vicious PFL debut on the same card when he stopped Alex Polizzi in just 96 seconds, improving his pro MMA record to 7-1 in the process.

The winner of that bout will take on the victor between Antonio Carlos Junior and Simeon Powell, the latter of whom boasts an 11-1 record and is looking to book a statement win over a former champion.
