Boston Fleet need a win to lock up a 2nd straight playoff berth as they visit the 1st-place Montreal Victoire on Monday

With a little help from the already-eliminated New York Sirens, the Boston Fleet (15-9-4, 43 points) can earn a second straight trip to the Professional Women’s Hockey League playoffs on Monday night when they visit the Montreal Victoire (17-8-3, 48 points) at Place Bell in Montreal. With two games remaining, the Fleet are five points ahead of the fifth-place Minnesota Frost and clinch a playoff berth on Monday with any sort of a win. A regulation victory would jump Boston into second place ahead of the Toronto Sceptres and two points behind Montreal for the No. 1 seed.

The Fleet returned from the international break with a 3-0 win over the visiting Sceptres on Saturday afternoon. Klára Peslarová stopped all 29 shots she saw to earn a shutout in her first career PWHL start. Jamie Lee Rattray had a pair of assists while Lexie Adzija’s goal 2:35 into the game was all Peslarová needed. Hannah Brandt and Theresa Schafzahl later scored. Captain Hilary Knight leads the PWHL for 28 points and is tied for second with 15 goals while Aerin Frankel is 12-7-3 with a 2.18 goals-against average and .924 save percentage.

The Victoire dropped a 3-2 decision on Saturday to the host Ottawa Charge when the Charge scored with just 13 seconds remaining in regulation. Montreal fought back from a 2-0 first-period deficit, tying the game on Catherine Dubois’ unassisted goal at 6:02 of the third period. Captain Marie-Philip Poulin leads the PWHL with 17 goals and tops the team with 23 points, with Ann-Renée Desbiens leading the league with a 1.85 GAA and .932 save percentage while going 13-2-2.

Both teams shuffled their rosters after the international break, with Boston getting back rookie forward Hannah Bilka from long-term injured reserve while placing forwards Alina Müller and Amanda Pelkey on LTIR. The Victoire got back forward Alexandra Labelle from the LTIR. Bilka last played on Jan. 31 and Labelle had been out since Feb. 22.
