New York Sirens look for consecutive wins for the 1st time in 2 months when they face the Minnesota Frost on Sunday.
The New York Sirens (8-10-4, 24 points) haven’t won consecutive games since Jan. 12-15 and have fallen to last place in the Professional Women’s Hockey League standings. On Sunday night, the Sirens take on the Minnesota Frost (12-8-4, 35 points) in a PWHL Takeover Tour game at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. The defending Walter Cup champion Frost get forward Britta Curl-Salemme back from a one-game suspension. Minnesota is currently fourth in the PWHL, five points ahead of the Ottawa Charge for the final playoff spot with six games remaining on its schedule.

New York snapped its nine-game losing streak on Wednesday, beating the first-place Montreal Victoire when Maja Nylen Persson scored a power-play goal 1:54 into overtime. Corinne Schroeder made 28 saves and Abby Roque finished with a goal and an assist. Rookie Sarah Fillier scored in the second period before getting sent off with a game misconduct early in the third. Montreal tied the game on the ensuing five-minute power play.
The Frost scored twice in a span of 2:13 midway through the third period to erase a 2-0 deficit before falling at Ottawa 3-2 on Tuesday. Taylor Heise had the first goal as well as an assist on Claire Thompson’s game-tying tally. The Charge’s game-winner came shorthanded while Minnesota finished 0-for-3 on the power play.
Fillier is tied for second in the PWHL with 23 points while Minnesota’s Kendall Coyne Schofield is tied for fourth with 21 points and in a third-place tie with 10 goals. Fillier leads the Sirens with nine goals, with Alex Carpenter scoring eight. Michela Cava has nine goals for the Frost. Maddie Rooney is 8-5-3 in net for Minnesota with a 2.02 goals-against average and .911 save percentage while Schroeder is 7-6-2 with a 2.70 GAA and .910 save percentage.
