The Ottawa Charge can move into a playoff position with a home-ice victory over the New York Sirens on Tuesday

The Ottawa Charge (10-10-4, 33 points) can move post the defending Walter Cup champion Minnesota Frost into fourth place on Tuesday night with a win over the New York Sirens (9-12-4, 27 points) at TD Place in Ottawa. The Charge trail the Frost by two points with six games remaining on their schedule and hold a 9-7 edge in regulation victories, the first tiebreaker in the PWHL standings. The Sirens are in last place and have lost two straight games. Ottawa’s Tereza Vanišová was named the league’s first star last week, recording a hat trick in the team’s only game.

Vanišová scored three goals in a span of just 8:44 on Saturday to lead the Charge to a 5-2 road win over New York. Her first goal at 15:11 of the second period broke a 1-1 tie and she found the back of the net again at tthe 17:29 mark. After the Sirens got a goal early in the third period, Vanišová made it a 4-2 game 3:55 into the third to become the first PWHL player with two hat tricks in a single season. Captain Brianne Jenner finished with a goal and an assist.

Abby Roque scored the third-period tally for New York, with Ella Shelton tying the game on the power-play 11 minutes into the second. Rookie Sarah Fillier is second with 25 points and tied for fourth with 10 goals while Alex Carpenter has lit the lamp nine times this season. Corinne Schroeder is 8-8-2 in net with a 2.71 GAA and .911 save percentage.

Vanišová is tied for second in the PWHL with 13 goals and leads the Charge with 17 points and Emily Clark has eight goals. With Emerance Maschmeyer sidelined, rookie Gwyneth Phillips is the No. 1 goalie for the club and is 4-3-1 with a 2.35 goals-against average and .912 save percentage.
