The Ottawa Charge and Minnesota Frost meet Tuesday night with both teams coming off losses to the same team

The Ottawa Charge (4-5-2, 14 points) have lost three straight games as they visit the Minnesota Frost (7-3-2, 20 points) at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on Tuesday night. The Frost have fallen out of first place with two straight defeats and now trail the Montreal Victoire by three points with the season just past the one-third mark. Minnesota’s Kendall Coyne Schofield has a share of the league lead with five goals and 11 points and the Frost are the defending Walter Cup champions while Ottawa missed the postseason in the PWHL’s first campaign in 2024.

The Charge dropped a 2-1 decision to the Victoire in Quebec City on Sunday as part of the PWHL’s Takeover Series. Shiann Darkangelo had tied the game at 9:21 of the third period before Montreal got a goal at 13:47 to seal the win. Emerance Maschmeyer made 33 saves in the loss. Darkangelo leads Ottawa with four goals while Tereza Vanišová has three goals and six points. Maschmeyer is 4-4-1 in nine starts with a 2.12 goals-against average and .934 save percentage.

Minnesota took a 4-2 loss at Montreal on Friday after surrendering the game’s first three goals. Coyne Schofield and Michela Cava had the tallies for the Frost in the loss. Cava and Britta Curl-Salemme have a share of the PWHL lead with five goals while Claire Thompson is part of a tie for the league lead with 11 points. Maddie Rooney is 5-1-1 in seven starts in net with a 1.96 GAA and .921 save percentage.

The Frost won their first meeting with the Charge this season, taking a 5-2 win at home on Dec. 19. They are scheduled to meet four more times.
