SEC Tournament play begins Tuesday night as Ole Miss and Kentucky meet on Jane B. Moore Field in college softball.
On Tuesday night, 13th-seeded Ole Miss and 12th-seeded Kentucky will play in the opening round of the SEC Tournament in college softball at Jane B. Moore Field in Auburn, Alabama. The winner will continue on to play fifth-seeded Missouri while the loser will pack its bags and head home empty-handed. The Rebels finished regular season play with a conference record of 7-17 and an overall record of 30-24. The team picked up a big 4-3 win over No. 8 Arkansas on Saturday to close out conference play on a high note. Grace Sparks earned the win in the circle, pitching 4.1 innings and striking out two batters while giving up two earned runs. Angelina DeLeon opened the game’s scoring with a two-run double to give her team the lead and the Rebels battled to earn the win against a top 10 team.

The Wildcats ended the regular season on a four-game losing streak to bring their overall record to 30-21 and their conference record to 8-16. The team closed out the regular season with a series against No. 3 Tennessee. Although they pushed the season finale to eight innings, the Wildcats ultimately fell 8-7 despite a back-and-forth battle. Peyton Plotts, Ally Hutchins and Erica Thulen each hit home runs to combine for six of the team’s runs while the final run was scored on a Tennessee error. Alexia Lacatena came in to relive Jade Vickers, but was forced to take the loss after giving up the game-winning home run in the bottom of the eighth.
Kentucky and Ole Miss met in an SEC series last season, which resulted in two wins for the Wildcats before the Rebels snagged a 9-3 win in the finale.
