The Siegel Center is set to host the exciting weekend matchup between VCU and Richmond on Saturday in men’s college basketball action. Richmond defeated VCU 79-76 in their last meeting on March 2 at the Robins Center last season. However, none of six Spiders who scored for UR in that game will be in uniform for Richmond on Saturday (five graduated or exhausted their eligibility and DeLonnie Hunt is injured). Richmond is seeking consecutive wins against VCU for the first time since sweeping its regular-season series vs the Rams in 2018. That’s also the last time UR won in the Siegel Center.

The Spiders made 13 three-pointers Wednesday at George Washington, three more than in any other game this season. It was UR’s most three-pointers since it hit 13 against VMI in its first game of the 2023-24 season.

Dusan Neskovic scored 10 points Wednesday, the 12th time in the last 13 games he’s reached double figures. In the five games since Spiders captain DeLonnie Hunt was injured, Neskovic’s 16 points per game are almost twice as many as any other Spiders (Jason Roche is next closest at 8.6).

Furthermore, Richmond used its eighth different starting lineup of the season Wednesday at GW, its most in any season since 2013-14 (also eight).

Both Neskovic (981 career points) and B. Artis White (979 career points) are within reach of 1,000 career points. They would be the second and third Spiders to reach 1,000 career points this season after Hunt scored his 1,000th point at Charlotte on November 13.
