Adrien Drault scored the go-ahead try in the 76th minute as France edged New Zealand 26-22 in its semifinal on Monday. Les Bleuets led 14-12 at halftime, getting a late try from Gabin Garault and a conversion from Luka Keletaona to take the lead. France tied the match in the 61st minute with Elia Masi’s try before New Zealand surged back into the lead on a penalty in the 72nd minute.

South Africa trailed early but took advantage of a man advantage over the final 48 minutes to knock off England 53-37 on Monday. England lost a player to a permanent red card in the 32nd minute while leading 17-7 and held a 20-12 edge at the break. But the Junior Springboks roared back with five second-half tries. Khuthadzo Rasivhaga scored three tries for South Africa while Kebotile Maake touched the ball down twice and Yaqeen Ahmed and Luke Cannon also recorded tries. Ahmed also booted six conversions and two penalties.

The World Junior Rugby Championship dates to 2008, with New Zealand winning a record six titles. England owns four championships, France checks in with three and South Africa has won twice. Les Bleuets’ last title came in 2023 to go with back-to-back crowns in 2018 and 2019. The Junior Springboks added the 2025 championship to its first win in 2012 and has reached the semifinals a record 14 times.
