León currently holds the final playoff spot, but the battle at the bottom of the league table is tight, as the difference between 11th and 16th is just three points. Anything can still happen down the stretch.

And that includes Santos Laguna finding itself in the postseason. The team’s minus-two goal differential is better than any other non-playoff team and is better than León, meaning a win on Sunday would vault Santos Laguna ahead of León in the standings.

León enters this match having lost its last three matches, all by shutout. The team has had a player red-carded in three of the last four matches, including three players being sent away against Club América on Wednesday. Not having José Rodríguez, Victor Dávila and William Tesillo for Sunday’s match puts the team at a disadvantage.

Santos Laguna is also coming off of a loss, falling 1-0 to Mazatlán, with Félix Torres being sent off in the 64th minute.

These clubs played to a 1-1 draw in August. León had won the last two meetings before that.
