Sacramento is 5-0-3 at Heart Health Park this season and has secured points in four of its last five matches overall. Birmingham enters the weekend sitting sixth in the United Soccer League’s eastern conference, trailing Louisville City FC by 10 points and is seven points clear of the playoff line. Sacramento is four points above Las Vegas Lights FC and Oakland Roots SC for the seventh and final playoff spot in the western conference. Republic scored a late equalizer against Oakland last weekend pushing them above the playoff line as the mid-way point of the season nears.
Last week, Birmingham shut out the Charleston Battery, winning 3-0 and regained the form it experienced in June when ot failed to concede a goal the entire month winning all three matches.
Tonight will be the first time the two clubs have ever met. Since Birmingham’s inaugural season in 2019, it has come to face the western conference a handful of times – but Saturday will be their first ever match in the Golden State.
