Forge looks to solidify playoff position, restart unbeaten streak in final west coast trip of the season at Vancouver

As the final month of the Canadian Premier League season begins, top of the table Forge FC heads into today’s away match at Vancouver FC with a three-point lead off its first loss since early August last Saturday at HFX Wanderers. Vancouver sits 10 points shy of the fourth and final playoff spot with five matches to play, facing three of the top four teams in the standings and playing three of its final five matches away from home. The season series is tied 1-1-1 with each team picking up road wins as Forge won at Willoughby Community Park at the Langley Events Centre a month and three days ago.

Forge attacker Tristan Borges, in his second stint with the club, ranks third in the CPL with his team-high eight goals on the campaign. Borges scored a career-best 12 goals with Forge in 2019 before playing with OH Leuven in Belgium then returning to Forge on loan in 2021. Currently third on the all-time scoring list in CPL history, Borges is one of three active players with 30 or more goals in league play, and recently became the club’s all-time leading scorer.

Vancouver ranks seventh of eight clubs in scoring tallying 26 goals in its first 23 matches and owns a league low minus-12 goal differential. Scoreless in three consecutive matches, Vancouver has only scored more than one goal just twice in its last 10 matches.

Forge, the four-time CPL champions, hold a narrow 3-2-2 all-time series lead over Vancouver who is in its second season after being added as an expansion team prior to the 2023 season.
