Slovakia hits the ice on Wednesday to take on Poland in the group stage of the IIHF World Championships.
Slovakia goes for its third straight win on Wednesday when it takes on Poland in Group B play of the IIHF World Championships. The Slovakian team got off to a tough start as it lost to Germany 6-4 in its first game of the tournament, but have bounced back to win their last two. It beat Kazakhstan 6-2 and then picked up a huge upset when the team knocked off the United States on Monday. They built a three-goal lead after two periods and then proceeded to give up three straight goals in the third period. They didn’t let it ruin them, though, as Milo Kelemen scored 3:56 into overtime to give them the win.

Poland has not had the same success as Slovakia as it is still searching for its first win of the tournament.
The Polish team has come in and lost its first three games. They dropped a heartbreaker to Latvia in overtime in the first game and then has fallen to both Sweden and France in the last two games.
Wednesday it will look to finally get that first win and slow down a streaking Slovakian team.
