Rayo Vallecano has hit a similar stumble in form after winning just one of its last nine games, though European qualification remains a possibility for Inigo Perez’s men.

Just six miles separate these two local rivals, who drew 1-1 when Rayo hosted the reverse fixture at the Estadio de Vallecas seven months ago.
Atleti has looked like a different beast when performing at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, however, and lost just once in 16 home outings in La Liga so far this season.

And with that result faded away any fleeting hope that Atleti could lay a hand on La Liga silverware this term, with Los Rojiblancos now 10 points off the title pace being set by Barcelona.
Champions League qualification is effectively guaranteed considering the top five in La Liga will make the cut this term, and there are 11 points between Atletico and Villarreal occupying that spot at present.
The season’s climax is far less certain for Rayo, who sits 10th as things stand but is only three points off seventh and a potential place in next term’s Europa League.
