La Liga is Real Madrid’s last remaining shot at silverware this season as it hosts Celta Vigo on Sunday. Watch the game live and for free on Fubo today.

Real Madrid is still licking its wounds from a traumatizing Copa del Rey final defeat to arch-rival Barcelona as it returns to La Liga on Sunday hosting a very capable Celta Vigo side. Carlo Ancelotti saw another trophy elude his team after coming off second-best in the latest edition of El Clasicon, but the league title chase is far from over as it looks to close the four-point gap on the Blaugrana right at season’s close. The final Clasico of the season lies just one week away and will be Real’s real opportunity to turn the tide in the title bid, but three points against Celta are a must if that’s to be the case.

Barely a week after being knocked out of the Champions League quarter-finals by Arsenal, Los Blancos lost out in another silverware hunt after a dramatic defeat to Barca.

And the bad news for seventh-placed Celta is it will have the unenviable honor of facing an Ancelotti team as motivated as ever to bounce back following last Saturday’s events in Seville.

The race for La Liga is of all the more importance after Real gave up a late lead to lose the Copa del Rey to Barcelona, where the best drama was saved for last:

Antonio Rudiger, Jude Bellingham and Lucas Vazquez each saw red at the end of extra time, with the former facing the worst of the punishments after he threw ice at referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea from the bench.

The Germany international could face a lengthy ban that runs into next season should Spain’s lawmakers look dimly on the situation, while Bellingham and Vazquez’s bans should be confined to the Copa.

Celta’s late resurgence saw it draw 2-2 at the Bernabeu in January, only for the floodgates to open in extra time as Claudio Giraldez’s men were knocked out of the Copa themselves.

That marked the first time in 10 games that Celta managed to avoid defeat against Los Blancos after 90 minutes (since February 2020), targeting a repeat of those heroics this weekend.
