Canada will cap its prep for the CONCACAF Gold Cup with a friendly against the Ivory Coast on Tuesday.

Canada and the Ivory Coast will face-off for the first time at BMO Field on Tuesday, as the host nation looks to round off a promising prep phase ahead of the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Only one week remains before the tournament co-host gets its campaign underway against Honduras, and Jesse Marsch has the opportunity to lead his men into the competition with a new trophy in tow. Victory at BMO Field in Toronto should ensure the Canucks clinch the Canadian Shield following their recent domination of Ukraine, with a new enemy in its sights on the eve of an even greater prize.

Following a third-place finish in the CONCACAF Nations League, Canada appears to have dusted itself down ready for another shot at silverware this summer.

Jonathan David scored twice in the opening 25 minutes, as Marsch’s men downed Ukraine 4-2 to put itself atop the pile in the hunt for the Canadian Shield Invitational.

Promise David and Tajon Buchanan provided the other two goals at BMO field, where the hosts are hoping another valiant performance will yield some minor silverware.

Ivory Coast lost 1-0 to New Zealand in its Canadian Shield opener, where Elijah Just scored the game’s only goal no long before half-time.

That brought an end to the Elephants’ run of back-to-back wins in World Cup qualifying, but a surprise victory over Canada would restore order for Emerse Fae’s side.

Franck Kissie will move into the Ivory Coast’s top 10 most capped players with an appearance against Canada, while Nicolas Pepe, Sebastien Haller and Simon Adingra are among the danger men in attack.
