Meanwhile, Bay FC finished the 2024 regular season campaign as the seventh-placed team in the league table. The club had 34 points in 26 matches in its inaugural season in the NWSL, to go along with an overall record of 11 wins, one draw and 14 losses.

The seventh-placed finish also gave Bay FC a spot in the NWSL where it would then go up against the Washington Spirit on Nov. 10, 2024 at Audi Field.

The match was deadlocked at 0-0 after 45 minutes, with neither team finding a break through in the first half. It took all the way until the 82nd minute, when Asisat Oshoala found the back of the net to give Bay FC a 1-0.

The excitement of going ahead within the final moments of the match was short-lived, however, as just four minutes later the Spirit found an equalizer.

Finally, nightmare struck for Caprice Dydasco when she put the ball into her own net to give Washington the 2-1 lead and eventual victory in the 96th minute.
