Adriana Leon and the San Diego Wave will take on Mackenzie and Bay FC in an NWSL matchup on Saturday.

The San Diego Wave will host the Portland Thorns at Snapdragon Stadium on Saturday night as the teams look to move up in the NWSL standings. The Thorns are currently in fifth place in the league table with a record of 3-3-2 for a total of 12 points. On Saturday, the team took on the second place Orlando Pride, handing them their second loss of the season with a 1-0 victory. Reyna Reyes netted the game’s only goal in the 16th minute of play and the Thorns were able to hold that lead until the final whistle. Portland outshot Orlando 16-11 and put seven shots on frame. Australia’s Mackenzie Arnold earned her third shutout of the season in between the pipes.

The Wave is currently in third place in the NWSL standings with 13 points earned from a record of 4-1-2 so far. Most recently, the team played against in-state rival Bay FC and earned a 2-1 victory. Kennedy Wesley opened the scoring for the Wave in the sixth minute of play to give San Diego a 1-0 lead. Bay FC were able to sneak one past Kailen Sheridan in net and even the score in the 18th minute. The teams played evenly for the next nearly 80 minutes of play, but Trinity Armstrong put in the game-winning goal in stoppage time to help her team add another three points to its tally.

Portland and San Diego last met toward the end of the NWSL regular season and the Wave picked up a 2-0 win. Goals were scored by Melanie Barcenas and Mya Jones.
