High-flying Fulham faces promoted Ipswich Town on Sunday in an effort to keep up with the Premier League’s big boys.

Fulham continues to defy the odds in its search for an eighth straight game unbeaten when it hosts Ipswich Town on Sunday, looking to start 2025 as it means to go on. Marco Silva’s men drew 1-1 at Portman Road when these teams met in the reverse fixture back in August, which brought an end to Fulham’s run of six straight wins over the Tractor Boys, dating back to their Championship days in 2016. Ipswich went into the New Year with a spring in its step after stunning Chelsea 2-0, and it’s a promising sign that the club has been even more effective on the road.

Kieran McKenna could hardly have hoped to send a more positive message to Ipswich’s fans ahead of 2025, taking the wind out of Chelsea’s sails with a stunning result at home.

Liam Delap opened the scoring against Chelsea before Omari Hutchinson converted a second against his old club – and broke the unwritten rule of not celebrating against one’s former employer:

The result wasn’t sufficient to take Ipswich out of the relegation zone, though McKenna’s men are at least up to 18th and a single point from safety after two wins in four.

Fulham is 10 places ahead as things stand, but the Tractor boys will be hopeful of upsetting another west London opponent and clinching what could be a third away win of the campaign thus far.

Massimo Luongo is the only new addition to Ipswich’s treatment table due to illness, while Chiedozie Ogbene, Janoi Donacien Axel Tuanzebe and George Hirst are still unavailable.

Fulham is also well-acquainted with its own list of absentees as Harrison Reed, Kenny Tete, Sander Berge and Reiss Nelson prepare to sit this one out.

Regional restrictions may apply.
