West Ham sits on the cusp of clinching back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time this season at home to Crystal Palace.

No sooner has Graham Potter scooped up his first win as West Ham’s new manager before now turning his attention to Crystal Palace, who visits the London Stadium on Saturday in strong form. The new manager effect appears to have taken hold in East London after Potter got a West Ham win on the board, but he’ll now attempt to topple a Palace side that’s gone undefeated in five straight games. Oliver Glasner’s men are already riding a streak of successive wins but can put even more distance between them and the relegation zone by clinching a season’s best third in a row.

Despite being slumped in 15th place, the Eagles have time and again proved themselves to be one of the toughest teams to beat in the Premier League this season.

Only Brighton (10) have drawn more games than Crystal Palace (nine), whose seven defeats to date are only one more than the likes of Manchester City and Aston Villa up around the European qualification place.

Potter’s first match in charge of West Ham ended in a 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Aston Villa, though the Hammers at least took the initiative thanks to Lucas Paqueta’s opener.

Things took a turn for the better, however, when Potter made his Premier League debut for the club and managed to eke out a 3-2 victory over London derby opponent Fulham on Tuesday:

Palace marched to victory over Leicester City 24 hours later but will hope that disadvantage in respite doesn’t come back to bite it.

Adam Wharton remains a long-term absentee for Palace, but Colombian midfield anchor Jefferson Lerma is in the running to return for Glasner.

West Ham, meanwhile, continue to endure an attacking crisis with Jarrod Bowen, Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio out of commission, begging the question as to whether January transfers are needed.

Regional restrictions may apply.
