Only one of Hungary or Turkey will gain promotion to the UEFA Nations League elite on Sunday. Watch the game live and for free on Fubo today.

Turkey leads Hungary 3-1 heading into the second leg of their UEFA Nations League promotion play-off on Sunday, but a difficult atmosphere is sure to await the travelling team at the Puskas Arena. Vincenzo Montella’s side finished strong and scored twice in the space of just four minutes to triumph in the opening leg, putting the Crescent Stars on the verge of climbing into the top flight of the Nations League for the first time. Even a one-goal defeat in Sunday’s second leg would be sufficient for the team to gain promotion, while nothing but a win by two goals or more will do for host Hungary.

Despite a slip in Montenegro last year costing the team automatic qualification to Nations League A, Turkey will get a golden opportunity to move up at the second time of asking.

And the fine work in Istanbul on Thursday has assured Montella’s men will have the best possible opportunity to take Hungary’s place at Europe’s top table.

Turkey put itself in a comfortable lead after finishing two goals clear of the Magyars in Istanbul, where Irfan Kahveci wrapped up the evening’s goal count with a superb half-volley finish:

It took less than nine minutes for Orkun Kokcu to open the scoring at the RAMS Arena, while Kerem Akturkoglu was well-placed to put the hosts back ahead after Andras Schafer’s equalizer.

Those latter two quick-fire goals completely changed the complexion of that game, and Hungary’s hopes of winning over both legs have dropped drastically as a result.

Turkey has won just once in six previous visits to Hungary, who has actually managed to beat this foe by two goals or more at home on three separate occasions.
