The final game of Group L will take place Sunday as Latvia and Armenia meet in UEFA Nations League action.

On Sunday morning, Latvia and Armenia will battle for a chance to advance out of group play when they meet in the final match of the group stage in UEFA Nations League action. At a six-goal deficit from second-place Faroe Islands, it is unlikely that Latvia will be able to make it into the next round as the nation currently sits in fourth place with four points. Armenia also has four points, but only trails Faroe Islands by two points and two goals in the group standings. Latvia’s last time out was on Thursday and resulted in a tough 1-0 loss to first-place North Macedonia. The first half of the match was scoreless, but North Macedonia broke through in the 57th minute to take a 1-0 lead. While the team played much better than they did against North Macedonia in the first match which resulted in a 3-0 loss, Latvia still could not keep up with the pace and ultimately dropped another game in group play to move to 1-3-1.

Armenia still has a shot to advance out of the group stage if North Macedonia is able to beat the Faroe Islands and Armenia is able to win its final game against Latvia. The team last played the Faroe Islands to a 1-0 loss which now puts its fate in the hands of other teams to advance.

When Armenia and Latvia met earlier in the group stage, Armenia won handily in a 4-1 victory. Vahan Bichakhchyan, Lucas Zelarayán and Eduard Spertsyan scored for Armenia with the fourth goal being an own goal that came off of a Latvian defender. Latvia’s lone goal of the game was also an own goal off of an Armenian defender as Latvia only had three total shots in the loss.
