Nothing but a win will do for Scotland, who sits three points adrift at the bottom of Group A1 with only two games to go and will be relegated should it fail to land a first victory this weekend. Things aren’t quite as desperate for Croatia in second, who can still stake a claim on the first-place finish if results go against current leader Portugal in the next week or so.

Scotland has displayed tremendous fight in its bid to carve out a consistent place among the Nations League’s top tier, evidenced by its 0-0 draw against Portugal last time out.

It was far from pretty – and drew the wrath of one Cristiano Ronaldo – but that result showed Steve Clarke’s side at their stubborn best.
