Rensing has stepped in as head coach of the Lights after predecessor Antonio Nocerino was fired back in June, with the club enjoying a run of three straight wins immediately after his axing. New Mexico, meanwhile, has experienced a major drop down the pecking order after losing its last five league games in a row but has a big opportunity to correct course at home this weekend.

The Black and Yellow boast at least one game in hand over each of the four teams currently sat above it in the Western Conference as things stand.

Winning that game in hand could propel New Mexico back up to second place, though there’s still a healthy gap between conference leader Tulsa and the rest of the pack.

Meanwhile, Rensing saw his side earn a point in his debut at home to San Antonio last weekend, hoping to promote an intense style of play he feels the club has been lacking of late:

The Lights are still without a win in five across all competitions, however, with only one team in the entire USL Championship having gathered fewer points than them to date.

That being said, the franchise is only five points off the top eight and a potential place in the play-offs should Rensing be able to build enough momentum after taking to the helm.
