The first was a 6-3 defeat to the undefeated Switzerland team. While it was a tough loss, it wasn’t a bad one. But then, on Monday, the Canadians lost again, this time to Denmark 3-2.
It was a shocking loss that has dropped the Canadians into a tie with Denmark, but they would have the No. 4 seed due to the head-to-head loss.
Now Canada must beat France to secure its spot in the quarterfinals. Canada will still be a favorite despite the two straight losses, but it needs to snap out of its funk if it wants to advance past the quarterfinals.
France comes into the game on a two-game losing streak and has won just twice out of its six games thus far. The French were able to knock off Kazakhstan and Italy but have struggled against the other teams.
They have no shot at advancing and are just playing for pride on Tuesday and the opportunity to pull off a massive upset against Canada.
