Novak Djokovic, Naomi Osaka and Carlos Alcaraz headline the first round of the 2025 Australian Open on Monday.

The journey for Novak Djokovic to win his record tying 11th Australian Open and record breaking 25th Grand Slam Title as always starts in the first round. The legend enters his 20th Australian Open as the seventh-seed. Djokovic takes on unseeded Nishesh Rasavareddy to start this potentially historic run. He has not lost in the first round since 2006, nearly 20 years ago. Carlos Alcaraz also plays his first match in the only Grand Slam that he has not won since bursting onto the scene four years ago. Last year Alcaraz made it to the quarterfinals in all four Grand Slam Tournaments, winning both the French Open and Wimbledon.

In the women’s draw, four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka gears up to try and make another run in the Australian Open. Two of her Grand Slam titles came in this event back in 2019 and 2021. Both times she won this event it was preceded by her winning the U.S. Open the previous year.

Osaka has not made it past the third round of any Grand Slam Tournament since winning the 2021 Australian Open. She enters this year unseeded and starts with a tough match against Caroline Garcia. In her career in Grand Slams she has only made it past the fourth round twice, but has also only lost in the first round six times since 2017.

Danielle Collins is also in action as the 10th seed. She will be challenged by unseeded Daria Snigur in her hopeful run to her second Australian Open finals in four seasons.
