Casper Ruud looks to win his first singles title of the year against Jack Draper in the ATP singles final of the 2025 Mutua Madrid Open.

The ATP singles final in the 2025 Mutua Madrid Open is a showcase of two of the top players in the world of tennis. Casper Ruud entered this tournament as the 14-seed after a slow start to the year. This is just Ruud’s second singles final appearance of the year after playing in five at this same point on the calendar last year. He faces off with five-seed Jack Draper who is looking for his second singles title of the year. Draper won the ATP Masters 1000 Indian Wells. This year Draper is playing the best tennis of his career rising up to fifth overall in the ATP rankings and could rise even higher with the French Open in Roland Garros right around the corner.

Despite their individual success and position in the ATP rankings this is the first ever match between the two stars. It is rare in high level tennis to have players at this level, ranked in or around the top 10 for years face off for the first time ever in the finals of a major tournament.

Draper’s run to the finals went through Tallon Griekspoor, Matteo Berrettini, Tommy Paul, Matteo Arnaldi and Lorenzo Musetti without dropping a set along the way.

For Ruud, he has also made his way to the finals without dropping a set. He defeated Arthur Rinderknech, Sebastian Korda, Taylor Fritz, Daniil Medvedev and Francisco Cerundolo without needing a tiebreaker or third set along the way.
