The Mens Super-G presented by Audi will take place today in the FIS Skiing World Cup at the Red Tail Stadium in Beaver Creek, Colorado, on Saturday afternoon. According to the race description, Super-G combines elements of both Downhill and Giant Slalom. Like Downhill, it’s a one-run event, but it features more frequent turns, similar to Giant Slalom. Unlike Downhill, however, there are no practice runs for Super-G—racers only get a chance to inspect the course on the morning of the race.

According to the Ski World Cup, Defending Super-G World Cup Champion Marco Odermatt is the man everyone aims to beat. Last season, Odermatt became the first male skier to win the Super-G Crystal Globe in successive seasons since Kjetil Jansrud won it in 2016-2017 and 2017-2018. The only Swiss man to have topped the Super-G World Cup standings more than once was Pirmin Zurbriggen, who has won it four times.
Specifically in the Super G, Aleksandar Aamodt Kilde won the event in the last two years. Odermatt, though won the Crystal Globe, came in second to Kilde in consecutive years at the Super G. In 2022, Alexis Pinturault came in third to the aforementioned two, and in 2021, Travis Ganong came in third.
Before Kilde won the event in 2022 and 2021, Odermatt won in 2019, after Marc Franz in 2018. You will not want to miss this key skiing event today in the World Cup the Downhill event will also be featured at Beaver Creek today. Tune into NBC on Saturday night.
