The semifinals of the NCAA Championships in college wrestling take the mat today.
If the semifinals of the 2024 NCAA Championships in college wrestling are as unpredictable and exciting as the quarterfinals, watch out. In the quarterfinals, only one weight class features the top four wrestlers advancing to the semifinals and only seven of the 10 feature the top two wrestlers. The quarterfinals were wild and full of upsets, setting the stage for the semifinals tonight. Heading into the quarterfinals Penn State had a commanding lead before sending six wrestlers to the semifinals. They have the potential to win six of the 10 individual tournaments and win the NCAA Championships of college wrestling for the third straight season and 12th overall.

The most competitive weight class in the semifinals based on seeding is the 184 pound group. Top-seeded Parker Keckeisen takes on fourth-seeded Trey Munoz and second-seeded Isaiah Salazar faces third-seeded Dustin Plott.
Where the tournament has the most parity is in both 125 and 174 pounds. In the 125 weight class the semifinals feature eighth-seeded Richard Figeroa vs. 12th-seeded Anthony Noto and third-seeded Drake Ayala vs. 10th-seeded Eric Barnett. Over in 174 fourth-seeded Shane Griffin takes on ninth-seeded Carter Starocci and sixth-seeded Rocco Welsh faces seventh-seeded Lennox Wolak.
The top-seeds remaining in the tournament looking to close out the season as champions include Oklahoma State’s Dalton Fix (133 pounds), Ohio State’s Jesse Mendez (141), Nebraska’s Ridge Lovett (149), Penn State’s Levi Haines (157), Missouri’s Keegan O’Toole (165), Northern Iowa’s Keckeisen and the Nittany Lions Aaron Brooks (197) and Greg Kerkvliet (285).
