Damonte Ranch will hit the road to face Carson on Friday in high school basketball action. Last week, a two-night, 46-point effort earned Champion Chevrolet Athlete of the Week honors for Damonte Ranch senior Drew Dodson. Dodson scored 30 points and had six rebounds and six assists in the Mustangs’ 77-50 win over Reed in boys basketball on Dec 20. He scored 16 points with five rebounds in their 49-40 win over Bishop Manogue on Dec. 19. That effort was enough for voters to give him the edge for the week of Dec. 16-22.

Dodson racked up 26,002 votes, or 55%, to take the overall fan vote in the 12-way contest. Meanwhile, Galena’s Anthony Martin finished second with 18,536 votes, or 40%.

Furthermore, Dodson will receive a $100 gift card to the sporting goods store Scheels, courtesy of Champion Chevrolet.
