Tim Tebow’s Tahoe Knight Monsters debut Thursday night when they host the Jacksonville Icemen in Stateline, Nevada.

The Tim Tebow-David Hodges owned Tahoe Knight Monsters make their debut in the ECHL on Thursday night when they host the Jacksonville Iceman (0-0-1) at the Tahoe Blue Event Center in Stateline, Nevada. The league awarded the franchise to Tebow and Hodges on July 10, 2023, and the name, logo and colors were unveiled on Nov. 30, taken from the folklore monster Tahoe Tessie. The Knight Monsters entered into an affiliation deal in July with the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights and the Henderson Silver Knights of the AHL. Jacksonville is an affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres and Rochester Americans, respectively.

The Icemen opened their season on Saturday with a 3-2 overtime loss to the visiting Florida Everblades. Logan Cockerill scored twice to put Jacksonville up 2-0 just 3:51 into the second period before the net closed to them. Brendan Harris assisted on both of Cockerill’s goals and goalie Matt Vernon stopped 20 shots in the loss.

Veteran center Luke Adam captains the Tahoe club, returning to North America after eight seasons in Europe, including seven in Germany before splitting last season between Czechia and Slovakia. He played 90 games with the Sabres and Columbus Blue Jackets between 2010-15.

The Icemen have been in Jacksonville since 2017 and their history dates back to the old Colonial Hockey League’s Muskegon Fury in 1992. The club also played as the Muskegon Lumberjacks from 2008-10 before moving to Evansville, Indiana, in 2010 and playing six seasons as the IceMen.
