Unbeaten Liberty visits winless Kennesaw State in a Wednesday night Conference USA matchup.

Liberty (5-0) shares the Conference USA lead with Western Kentucky at 3-0 one season removed from a New Year’s Six bowl appearance and hasn’t lost a regular season game since the 2022 finale. On Wednesday night, the Flames return from a bye to take on Kennesaw State (0-6), which is in its second season since moving up to FBS and its first in CUSA, where it is 0-2. Jamey Chadwell is 18-1 since taking over the Liberty program in 2023, while Brian Bohannon launched the Owls program in 2013 and is 71-36 since it began play in 2015.

The Flames needed overtime to beat visiting FIU 31-24 on Oct. 8, winning the game on Kaidon Salter‘s nine-yard touchdown run, his second of the game, in overtime. Liberty led 24-10 with 10:43 to go in regulation before the Panthers tied things with 1:42 left. Quinton Cooley ran for 174 yards and two scores while Salter was 9-of-16 for 125 yards passing and ran for another 60 yards.

Kennesaw State took a 2-0 lead on a first quarter safety but lost at Middle Tennessee 14-5 on Oct. 15. Qua Ashley ran for 79 yards on 11 carries, while quarterback Khalib Johnson was just 5-of-17 for 52 yards and was intercepted twice before he was replaced by Braden Bohannon, who was 5-of-10 for 51 yards.

Cooley has run for 545 yards and six touchdowns for the Flames, while Salter has 1,074 passing yards with seven touchdowns and one interception. Treon Sibley is a deep threat with 17 catches for 370 yards. TJ Bush Jr. leads the defense with 4.5 sacks. Davis Bryson threw for 616 yards and two touchdowns with six picks for the Owls before injuring his shoulder two weeks ago. Michael Benefield leads the ground game with 242 yards and Garland Benyard has three sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss.
