Mexico is the current reigning champ and is making its fifth straight final appearance. The team possesses tournament-leading scorer Montserrat Saldívar, who produced six goals during her appearances, and firepower from Alice Soto, whose brace in the 4–0 semifinal rout of Costa Rica showcased her influence on Mexico’s aggressive style of play. Mexico’s only loss came to Canada in group play (4–2), but the squad responded emphatically in the games since, blanking Costa Rica 4–0 and averaging nearly five goals per game in knockout play.

Canada punched its ticket to the final with a hard-fought 1–0 semifinal win over the United States, marking the first time the U.S. will not be featured in the final. Lea Larouche was decisive with the game’s only goal in the 56th minute, while Noelle Henning’s stoppage-time save sealed her team’s spot in the championship. The U.S. finished the game with five shots on target, but Henning made sure to put a stop to their scoring opportunities. Canada hasn’t lifted the trophy since 2008 and is making its first final appearance in a decade.

Women’s soccer fans can expect an electric matchup on Sunday as Mexico looks to get behind the defense early, while Canada will rely on strong defense and goalkeeping to keep the net clear.
