The final day of action in the women’s portion of the NCAA Outdoor Championships will crown individual and team champions on Saturday.

The spotlight returns to Hayward Field on Saturday night as the women take to the track for the second and final day of competition at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The final night delivers a finale brimming with record-breaking potential as temperatures have been near perfect for track and field competition in Eugene, Oregon. The night will begin with the 4x100m taking to the track for the finals. Other events that are sure to impress fans around the country as well as in the stands are the 100m high hurdles and the 400m intermediate hurdles. The first day of competition for the women was impressive and day 2 is sure to bring some explosive times as the women compete for the chance to be named a national champion.

On Thursday, JaMeesia Ford (South Carolina) dazzled in both of her races, blazing to a 21.98 in the 200m and clocking a 10.87 in the 100m which marked the sixth-fastest collegiate time ever. After a day of rest, Ford will look to convert that semifinal speed into national titles in both races.

New Mexico has become a strong distance program over the last several years, attracting some of the best runners to compete for the Lobos. Pamela Kosgei, a freshman phenom from New Mexico, shattered the NCAA 10k meet record on Thursday (31:17.82). On Saturday, her teammate Sophia McDonnell will try her hand at earning an NCAA title with a win in the 3000m steeplechase.

In the 800m, LSU senior Michaela Rose stunned audiences with a 1:58.95 run, recording a meet record in semifinals. She will look to improve upon that on Saturday night to earn the title in one of the hardest races on the track.

After six events being completed, Georgia leads the women’s team scoring with 26 points while Illinois sits in second with 16.5 points and Washington rounds out the top three with 16 points.
