This is the first season for the Trojans, as well as Oregon, UCLA and Washington after years in the now defunct Pac-12. Those schools bring a combined eight women’s college volleyball championships to the Big Ten which already feature heavyweight schools in Nebraska and Penn State.

This season, the Trojans’ two losses both came to teams ranked in the top 11. The first came to 11th-ranked Creighton and the second to top-ranked Pittsburgh. Outside of those two losses, the Trojans have only played one five-set match, dominating teams 24-7 in sets during their eight wins this season

For the Buckeyes, they are coming off back-to-back wins over Bowling Green. In those two wins the Buckeyes swept the Falcons in the first match and won 3-1 in the second during the home-and-home mini-series against another local Ohio team.
