The Orlando Pride and Kansas City Current will meet on Sunday with the hopes of earning the final spot in the NWSL Championship match.

On Sunday afternoon, the Kansas City Current and the Orlando Pride will battle at Inter & Co. Stadium for the second spot in the NWSL final. The winner will take on the Washington Spirit who won in penalty kicks against Gotham FC.

The Current advanced to the semifinals after defeating the North Carolina Courage 1-0 last weekend. In the win, Temwa Chawinga scored the lone goal just eight minutes into the match. That game marked the fourth knockout match between the clubs since 2022 and the second meeting this year. In the regular season, Chawinga set the single season goals record for the NWSL with 20 goals and a second record of 26 goal contributions.

The Pride advanced to the semifinals after defeating the Chicago Red Stars in a big 4-1 victory in the quarterfinal round. The scoring started with Haley McCutcheon who scored in the 26th minute with an assist from Ally Watt. Barbra Banda contributed the next two goals, one in the 39th minute and the second six minutes into stoppage time at the end of the first half, to take a 3-0 lead into the break. Marta made it a 4-0 game after scoring on a penalty in the 56th minute. The Red Stars earned one goal back in the 60th minute, but that was all the Red Stars could muster. 

The last meeting between Orlando and Kansas City was September 13th which resulted in a scoreless draw. An earlier match between the two teams took place in July and the Pride earned a 2-1 victory.

The NWSL championship will be played Saturday November 23rd at 8 PM EST.
