This will be the sophomore season for Panthers quarterback Bryce Young, who the team traded up to take first overall last year. Young started 16 games last year, completing 59.8 percent of his passes for 2,877 yards with 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He ran for another 253 yards.
The Panthers went out and got help for Young this offseason. They aquired wide receiver Diontae Johnson in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers, then traded up to take South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette in the first round of the draft.
Young will also have a new offensive-minded head coach. The Panthers hired former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dave Canales to replace Frank Reich.
The Saints are trying to get back to the playoffs, after just missing out last year. At 9-8 they lost the division to the Bucs via tiebreakers, and finished a game out of the final Wild Card spot in the NFC.
