The Sharjah Warriorz get their shot at a 1st International League T20 final when they face the Desert Vipers on Friday

The Sharjah Warriorz (6-5), in the International League T20 knockout stage for the first time in the league’s third season, have a chance to reach Sunday’s final when they take on the group-stage winning Desert Vipers (7-4) in Friday’s Qualifier 2 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The Warriors completed a six-wicket victory over defending champion MI Emirates in Thursday’s Eliminator match, successfully chasing down the winning score, while the Vipers dropped into Qualifier 2 with a five-wicket loss to the Dubai Capitals on Wednesday.

Tim Seifert put Sharjah into Qualifier 2 with 40 runs off 20 balls, including 16 runs in the 19th over, to complete the chase in the Warriorz 149/4-146/8 win on Thursday. Tom Kohler-Cadmore had 40 off 40 and Johnson Charles posted 36 off 20. Captain Tim Southee bowled 2-24 in the victory.

The Vipers lost for the second time in three days to the Capitals in Wednesday’s Qualifier 1, falling by five wickets in a 193/5-189/7 decision. Alex Hales scored 67 off 32 balls while Max Holden put up 36 off 26 as Desert set the mark in the first inning but was chased down by Dubai. Captain Lockie Ferguson bowled 2-32 in 3.5 overs but the bowlers allowed a robust 9.65 runs per over.

The Warriorz lost both matches to the Vipers in the group stage, falling by 10 wickets in Dubai on Jan. 22 and taking an eight-wicket defeat in Abu Dhabi on Jan. 25. Kohler-Cadmore leads Sharjah with 387 runs while Charles has 341. Adam Milne’s 12 wickets tops the Warriorz. For the Vipers, Alex Hales had 353 runs and Sam Curran 291, with Wanindu Hasaranga taking 12 wickets.
