    The Michigan State Spartans take on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday afternoon looking to win a second straight game and become bowl eligible. The Spartans kept their hopes alive for a bowl game when they beat Purdue 24-17 last Friday. They had lost three in a row and six of seven before their win over the Boilermakers. They are now 5-6 on th season and 3-5 in the Big Ten. Despite their struggles this year they have won two of their last three games at home and are looking to make it three of four on Saturday. Aidan Chiles will need to play well if the Spartans want to get that sixth win. Chiles has thrown for 2,265 yards this season and 12 touchdowns, but he has also thrown 11 interceptions. His top target has been Nick Marsh as they have connected 39 times for 636 yards and three touchdowns. Montorie Foster Jr. has also been good as he has caught 46 passes for 588 yards and three touchdowns.

    The Scarlet Knights come into Saturday afternoon looking to bounce back from a tough 38-31 loss to No. 25 Illinois last weekend. They led the Fighting Illini 24-15 early in the fourth quarter but gave up 23 points in the fourth quarter to take the loss. The dagger came when they gave up a 40-yard touchdown pass with just four seconds left in the game.

    The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Scarlet Knights and dropped them to 6-5 on the season and 3-5 in the Big Ten.They are already bowl-eligible, but are looking to avoid dropping back to .500 on the season.
