A pair of unbeatens clash on a neutral court Sunday afternoon when Saint Mary’s (3-0) takes on Nebraska (3-0) at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Gaels have played in the last three NCAA tournaments, emerging as the top rival for Gonzaga in the West Coast Conference. Coach Randy Bennett is 536-216 in his 24th season and led the club to a 26-8 mark last season. The Cornhuskers returned to March Madness last spring for the first time since 2014, finishing 23-11. Coach Fred Hoiberg is in his sixth season and is 69-94 in Lincoln.

Saint Mary’s comes off an 87-68 win over visiting Akron on Tuesday night. Mikey Lewis came off the bench for 18 points in 20 minutes while Paulius Murauskas added 17 points, 15 rebounds and six assists. Augustas Marciulionis chipped in 11 points and 11 dimes and Mitchell Saxen also went for a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards. Murauskas leads the Gaels with 18.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per game while Marciulionis averages 16.0 points and 8.7 assists.

Nebraska blew out to a big lead and cruised to an 86-60 victory over visiting FDU on Wednesday. Juwan Gary paced the Huskers with 19 points, with Berke Buyuktuncel tossing in 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Brice Williams scores 15.7 points per game, with Gary notching 13.0 points a night. Buyuktuncel posts 8.0 points and 6.7 rebounds.

Sunday’s game is the first between the programs in nearly 49 years. The series is tied 1-1, with Nebraska winning the most recent meeting 68-57 at home on Dec. 10, 1975.
