Wednesday night’s Big East slate has Seton Hall (6-10, 1-4) heading to Indianapolis to take on Butler (7-10, 0-6) at Hinkle Fieldhouse. This is the first meeting between the two teams this year. The Pirates have won six games in a row head-to-head against Butler and nine of the last 10. The Bulldogs’ last win in the series came in Feb. 2021.

Seton Hall split its two games last week. The Pirates hosted DePaul last Wednesday and picked up their first win of the year with an 85-80 victory in overtime. Then on Saturday, they lost a close one 91-85 at Providence.

Sophomore guard Isaiah Coleman had a career-high 26 points in that loss to Providence. Coleman leads the way for the Pirates. After earning Big East All-Freshman honors last year, he’s averaging a team-high 15.7 and 5.0 rebounds per game.

Butler got swept last week. The Bulldogs lost, 84-65, against Providence on Wednesday, then dropped a close game at home to Creighton, 80-76 on Saturday.

Graduate forward Jahmyl Telfort is Butler’s leading scorer. He’s averaging 15.5 points per game. Butler’s offense is also aided by senior forward Patrick McCaffery, whose 41.3 percent three point percentage (on 6.7 three point attempts per game) ranks fourth among qualifying players in the Big East. McCaffery is averaging 13.2 points per game this season.
