Paige Bueckers and No. 3-seed UConn will host Dyaisha Fair and No. 6-seed Syracuse today.
The No. 6 seed in in Portland Regional, Syracuse, will head on the road to take on the No. 3 seed from the same region, UConn, at Gampel Pavilion. The Huskies finished their season with five losses to their name, but they also came out on top of the Big East Tournament beating Georgetown in the final by over 30 points. That momentum carried into the Women’s NCAA Tournament where they were seeded on the No. 3 line. They were matched up against No. 14-seed Jackson State in the first round, and they came out with an 86-64 win on Saturday. Paige Bueckers led the team, dropping 28 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field. She also had a team-high in rebounding and assists with 11 boards and seven assists. Ashlynn Shade also had 26 points, while Aaliyah Edwards had 20 points in the win. Outside of those three ladies, only three other players scored a total of 12 points.

The Orange finished their season with just seven losses including one of those being to Florida State in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament. Despite that loss, they still finished the season ranked No. 20 and earned a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament. They took on No. 11-seeded Arizona from the Pac-12 in the first round and came away with a five-point win.
Dyaisha Fair led the team in scoring dropped 32 points on 11-of-22 shooting from the floor. Alyssa Latham was the only other player in double figures with 10 points and five rebounds. As a team, four players played off the bench totaling 15 bench points.
