The first series of the season between the Minnesota Twins and Athletics comes to an end as the home team will try to end a nine-game.

The Minnesota Twins go for the rare four-game series sweep against the Athletics on the road in this finale on Thursday afternoon. These games have not been all that close either. The closest margin of victory for the Twins in the first three games was five runs when they won 6-1 on Wednesday to win the series. The Athletics are in the midst of a tough stretch as they try to avoid losing 10 games in a row on Thursday. On Tuesday, May 13 the Athletics were two games over .500 at 22-20. They now sit at 23-40 going 1-19 ever since which is worse than the Colorado Rockies who easily have the worst record in nearly the history of the sport. The Twins will likely be the favorites to get the sweep today considering that the A’s are 9-22 in their new temporary home in Sacramento.

The Twins won the series on Wednesday on the shoulders of Ryan Jeffers who really bookmarked the game. The Minnesota DH hit a solo homer in the first and then capped the game off by hitting a RBI single in the ninth. Harrison Bader hit a two-run shot in the fifth to give the Twins all the run support they would need. That is because Zebby Matthews had a solid start going five innings while only giving up four hits and one run. The A’s lone run came from Jacob Wilson in the fifth on a RBI double.

The Twins will go for the series sweep today by starting David Festa. The righty has been sharp in his three starts this season with a 1.38 ERA over 13 innings. Festa is still looking for his first win of the season. The A’s have yet to announce their starter for this finale.
