    Martin Necas and the Carolina Hurricanes will take the ice against Kyle MacLean and the New York Islanders on Thursday night.

    The Carolina Hurricanes will head on the road to the New York Islanders for Game 3 of a best-of-seven series in the first round of the NHL Playoffs at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. The Hurricanes currently lead the series 2-0 after the two games in Carolina. They were able to get the best of the Islanders 3-1 in the first game. It was tied 1-1 at the end of the first period with a Carolina goal from Evgeny Kuznetsov on a power play assisted by Martin Necas and Brady Skjei. New York answered just seven minutes later with a goal from Kyle MacLean assisted by Anders Lee and Alexander Romanov to even the score at 1-1 heading into the second period. No goals were scored in an evenly-matched second period sending the game to the last period still tied. Carolina scored twice in that last period with goals from Stefan Noesen in the fourth minute assisted by Skjei and Kuznetsov and a goal from Necas assisted by Brett Pesce and Jack Drury.

    Carolina won the second game 5-3, still evenly matched, just more goals scored. New York took a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period with goals from Bo Horvat and Kyle Palmieri. The same team opened the second period with another goal from Anders Lee to take a 3-0 lead midway through the period.

    It all went downhill after that for New York as Carolina scored five unanswered goals in the final period and a half. Teuvo Teravainen scored the first goal and the only of the second period. Heading into the last period down 3-1, Seth Jarvis, Sebastian Aho, Jordan Martinook, and Jake Guentzel all scored in the period to win the game.
