With the home team riding a seven-game winning streak heading into this Big East matchup, No. 15 St. John’s hosts conference foe Providence at Madison Square Garden on Saturday. The Red Storm are on the rise with seven consecutive wins improving their overall record to 18-3 with a near-perfect 9-1 conference record and a perfect 13-0 record at home. St. John’s only has one conference loss this season on the road at Creighton. Providence, on the other hand, has won two consecutive games to improve to 11-10 overall with an even 5-5 conference record and a 2-4 mark on the road. This is the 126th meeting in this storied rivalry, with St. John’s holding a 67-58 advantage while adding a 72-70 victory in December.

Most recently, St John’s took care of business on the road with a 66-41 victory over Georgetown in the nation’s capital on Tuesday night. The Red Storm now have their best Big East start in 40 years, with Kadary Richmond and Zuby Eliofor leading the way with 13 points each. Aaron Scott also finished with 10 points and two made three-pointers in the victory. 

As for Providence, the Friars made it two wins in a row with a 69-67 victory over Seton Hall on Tuesday night. Jayden Pierre scored a team-high 16 points by shooting 6-for-9 from the field including 3-for-5 from three-point land. Pierre scored 10 of his 16 points in the second half.
