Colonial Athletic play continues on Thursday with a game between Monmouth and Stony Brook as the teams look to move up in the standings.

The Monmouth Hawks will travel to New York on Thursday for a Colonial Athletic game against the Stony Brook Seawolves at Stony Brook Arena. The Seawolves come into Thursday’s home game with a conference record of 2-10 and an overall record of 6-19 which puts them in 13th place in the CAA standings. The team picked up its second conference win on Saturday against Hofstra in an 80-75 road victory. Andre Snoddy and CJ Luster II powered the Stony Brook offense, combining for 53 points with Snoddy’s 27 and Luster II’s 26. Snoddy also led the team on the boards with an impressive 12 rebounds to earn a double-double in the win. The team will look to carry that momentum into the final six regular season games to make a run at postseason play.

The Hawks are currently in seventh place in the CAA standings with a conference record of 6-6 and an overall record of 8-17. The team’s most recent game was played against conference-leading Towson and resulted in a tough 73-67 loss at home. Abdi Bashir Jr. led the Hawks offensively with 19 points and Madison Durr finished right behind him, scoring 17 on the night.

Jack Collins rounded out the double digit scorers with 10 points in the loss. The team finished the game shooting 41 percent from the field and 33 percent from beyond the arc. Although the score was tied five times and also saw five lead changes, the Tigers were able to hold on to win their 10th straight game.

Stony Brook and Monmouth have met a total of six times in their history and the series is all tied up at 3-3. Monmouth has won the last two meetings including a big 78-56 win over the Seawolves last month.
