Oregon State and Nevada will meet Tuesday in non-conference baseball action.

Oregon State will travel to Reno on Tuesday night as the team takes on Nevada for a two-game series at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park. The Beavers come into the series with an overall record of 29-5 and a conference record of 10-4 for a spot at the top of the Pac-12 standings. On Sunday, the team lost the final game of its series against Stanford in a back-and-forth 11-10 defeat. Oregon State had tied the game in the bottom of the eighth, but allowed a run in the top of the ninth leaving the Beavers with the loss. Both teams allowed 12 hits, however, Oregon State suffered two errors which were crucial. Right fielder Gavin Turley had two runs and six RBI in four at-bats while Elijah Hainline and Jacob Krieg also recorded multiple hits in the game. Oregon State used seven different pitchers with Laif Palmer earning the loss.

Nevada enters the series with an overall record of 14-17 and a record of 9-8 in conference play. The team dropped its final game of a Mountain West series over the weekend with a 6-3 loss to San Jose State. Nevada was down 6-0 coming into the ninth inning, and despite bringing three runs in, it wasn’t enough to catch up to the Spartans. Pinch hitter Bryce Matthews came into the game and hit a double scoring designated hitter Nolan Wilson. One batter later, Jake Harvey entered the game and hit a home run scoring Matthews. Starting pitcher Peyton Fosher earned the loss with six innings of work in which he gave up eight hits, four earned runs and struck out four batters.

Oregon State and Nevada met for a two-game series last season in Corvallis and split the results with the Wolf Pack taking the first game in a 5-1 win and the Beavers taking the second in a big 12-1 victory.

Non-conference play will continue on Tuesday night for Texas Tech and Arkansas in college baseball action.

On Tuesday night, Texas Tech will hit the road to take on No. 1 Arkansas for a two-game non-conference series in Fayetteville. The Raiders come into the mid-week series with an overall record of 26-10 and a conference record of 9-9 for a spot in sixth place in the Big 12 standings. The latest game for Texas Tech was a 4-3 loss to TCU to bring the team’s losing streak to two games. In the loss, TCU jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. In the second inning, Owen Washburn doubled to score Austin Green. In the third, the Red Raiders scored another run when Drew Woodcox doubled to bring home Gage Harrelson. The final run for Texas Tech came from the batt of Gavin Kash as he grounded out to second base in the fourth inning, scoring Tracer Lopez to tie the game. TCU scored in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the final lead of the game.

The Razorbacks come into Tuesday night’s game on a surprising two-game losing streak after dropping a 5-0 loss to No. 25 Alabama on Sunday to close out the teams’ SEC series. Arkansas is now 30-5 overall and 12-3 in SEC play to hold the top spot in the conference. In Sunday’s loss, Arkansas finished the game with just four hits and one error while Alabama was able to generate 10 hits with one error. Kraken aim to snap losing skid as season ending road trip skates in Manitoba against the playoff bound Jets

Riding a six-game winning streak and virtually locked into the two seed in the Central Division, the Winnipeg Jets drop the puck on a season-ending two-game home stand tonight as they play host to the Seattle Kraken inside the Canada Life Centre. The Kraken have lost three games in a row and have been eliminated from postseason consideration after making the playoffs last year in only the franchise’s second season. In what could very well be a first round playoff preview, the Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night.

Among the biggest games on Tuesday night’s NHL slate is the matchup between the Florida Panthers (51-24-6) and Toronto Maple Leafs (46-24-10) at Amerant Bank Arena. As the standings sit now this would be the first-round playoff matchup in the Atlantic Division, with the Panthers and Maple Leafs currently the second and third seeds in that division, respectively. For the Panthers, this is their final game of the year. They can still reach the top spot in the Atlantic Division, but they’d need a win and a Bruins loss to the Ottawa Senators. The Maple Leafs are locked into the third seed no matter what.

Detroit has won two straight games including a win over today’s opponent, the Montreal Canadiens (30-36-15). They enter today tied with the Washington Capitals for the final spot in the Eastern Conference. If Detroit comes out with a win and Washington loses in its game, then Detroit will make the playoffs as the eighth seed this season. Detroit lost the tiebreaker with Washington this season after losing two of the three games. One loss came down to overtime and then a 2-1 loss just a week ago that decided the season series and the tiebreaker.

The second round of the Western Intercollegiate tournament tees off with Arizona in the lead today.

After one round of play in the 2024 Western Intercollegiate tournament Arizona holds a six-stroke lead over the rest of the field. The Wildcats are the only team under par with a round one score of 348, two strikes under par. Behind the Wildcats are Stanford at four over par and Washington at five over par. Those teams will look to hold off the rest of the field today in the second round heading into the final round tomorrow. In the singles draw Taehoon Song holds a one-stroke lead over the field at four under par with teammate Petr Hruby tied for second place at three under par.

On Tuesday night, the Philadelphia Flyers will host the Washington Capitals at the Wells Fargo Center for the final regular season game as both teams look to make a final push for a playoff position. The Flyers are currently in sixth place in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 38-32-11. On Saturday, the team played to a 1-0 win over the New Jersey Devils, but around the league on Monday night, the Flyers’ top competitors for the final wild-card spot also won. On Tuesday night, No. 3 Kentucky will hit the road to take on Louisville in a mid-week rivalry game at Jim Patterson Stadium. On the verge of its first UEFA Champions League semifinal appearance since 2109, FC Barcelona heads into Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys today after stealing an away victory from Paris Saint-Germain last week, leading 3-2 on aggregate as the second leg of quarterfinal action continues. Paris Saint-Germain has never won the Champions League title despite making the knockout rounds each of the last 11 seasons including an appearance in the final in 2020. Barcelona won the Champions League title in 2015 but missed the knockout rounds in each of the last two seasons and with a win today would advance to the semifinals in May.

No. 16 Oregon takes a break from its Pac-12 schedule on Tuesday to host Gonzaga, which comes in with 7 straight wins

After taking two of three from USC over the weekend, No. 16 Oregon (25-10) returns to PK Park in Eugene on Tuesday afternoon when it hosts Gonzaga (14-18) for a non-conference game. The Bulldogs come in with seven consecutive victories, including a West Coast Conference sweep at San Francisco over the weekend. The Ducks, 10-5 in Pac-12 Conference play, are a half-game behind Oregon State for the league lead. Gonzaga is 10-2 in the WCC, trailing only 8-1 Portland in the league standings. Oregon made its third straight NCAA tournament appearance last season, reaching the super regionals. The Bulldogs’ most recent NCAA tourney bid came in 2022.

Michael Lorenzen made his injury-delayed debut for Texas, working around five walks to combine with three relievers on a five-hit shutout. A neck strain delayed Lorenzen’s first start with his new club. He signed as a free agent in March after splitting last season between the Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies.
