UCLA and UC Irvine will meet in an in-state battle Tuesday night in men’s baseball action.

No. 12 UC Irvine will make a trip to Los Angeles on Tuesday night for a non-conference game against UCLA at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The Bruins have been struggling recently and bring a five-game losing streak into Tuesday night’s game. The team is now in last place in the Pac-12 standings with a conference record of 6-15 and 13-24 overall. Over the weekend, the Bruins took on Arizona State, losing all three games with the finale being a tough 13-1 loss. Roch Cholowsky was responsible for the team’s only run of the game with an RBI double in the second. The loss was credited to Landon Stump as he gave up four earned runs in 3.2 innings of work on the mound.

The Panthers look to take a two-game lead on the Lightning when the two teams play on Tuesday night

The Flordia Panthers take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 2 of their playoff series on Tuesday night. The Panthers, who are coming off an Atlantic Division title, took Game 1 when they held off the Lightning 3-2. Sam Reinhart opened the scoring just six minutes into the game, but the Lighting would tie it 10 minutes later. The game would remain tied until Carter Verhaeghe scored just 58 seconds into the third period. Matthew Tkachuk would add an empty-net goal with two minutes left to put them up two. The Lightning would get a goal with 10 seconds left, but it wasn’t enough.

The Panthers can now take control of the series with another win on Tuesday night. A win would not only put them in control, but it would maintain home-ice advantage for the series.

The Lightning, though, are looking to even the series and steal away the home-ice advantage.

In the opening contest between these two teams, Anthony Edwards proved to be the best player on the floor. He finished with 33 points, nine rebounds and six assists in the huge win, significantly outplaying Devin Booker on both ends. The New York Rangers host the Washington Capitals in Game 2 of their playoff series on Tuesday night. The Rangers shook off a slow start in Game 1 to take control and beat the Capitals 4-1. They would score the first three goals of the game in the second period to put the Caps away. The first two goals came just 33 seconds apart as Matt Rempe and Artemi Panarin put them up 2-0. Jimmy Vesey would add a goal just 1:30 later to put them in control. Chris Kreider would put a cap to the scoring with a goal at 16:17 of the third period. The Rangers outshot Washington 31-21 and will look to do the same on Tuesday in Game 2.

UMass-Lowell and Harvard will square off Tuesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action.

On Tuesday afternoon, an in-state game will take place as UMass-Lowell travels to take on Harvard in a mid-week non-conference matchup. The River Hawks come into Tuesday’s game with an overall record of 16-21 and a conference record of 7-7 for a spot in fourth place in the America East standings. The team’s most recent game was played against Bryant in the teams’ series finale on Sunday and the River Hawks dropped an 8-7 game to lose the series. Ryan Strand finished the game with a team-leading three RBI from a double in the sixth and a fly-out in the seventh. Brian Foley took the loss on the mound after blowing the save with 1.1 innings of work in which he struck out two batters and gave up the last two runs.

The Crimson are currently in sixth place in the Ivy League standings with a conference record of 7-8 and an overall record of 11-21. Over the weekend, Harvard hosted Dartmouth and earned a series win with victories in games one and three. The finale resulted in a strong 13-5 win led by William Lybrook who finished the game going 3-for-4 with three RBI from a single to center field and a homer to right field. Callan Fang improved to 3-2 on the year with 7.2 innings of work on the mound. Fang gave up three earned runs but struck out an impressive 11 batters in the win.

UMass-Lowell and Harvard met last year in non-conference play and the win went in the River Hawks’ favor with a 12-4 victory on the road.

Unbeaten in eight consecutive Premier League matches, Chelsea FC visits Emirates Stadium today looking for its second win in three seasons at Arsenal FC as The Gunners aim to break the tie with Liverpool atop the table and extend the lead over Manchester City as the regular season nears its end. The Sugar Land Space Cowboys head to the Biggest Little City in the World with a share of the PCL lead as they face the Reno Aces

The Sugar Land Space Cowboys (14-7) share the Pacific Coast League lead as they go to Greater Nevada Field on Tuesday to open a six-game series with the Reno Aces (11-9). The Space Cowboys come off taking four of six games last week from the Round Rock Express, losing Sunday’s series finale. Reno enters the series after winning five of six on the road against the Salt Lake Bees. The Houston Astros’ sixth-ranked prospect, per MLB Pipeline, plays at Sugar Lake in outfielder/infielder Joey Loperfido, a 24-year-old old taken in the seventh round of the 2021 draft. The Aces have the No. 10 prospect in baseball, 21-year-old shortstop Jordan Lawlar, whom the Arizona Diamondbacks chose sixth overall in the same 2021 draft.

A.J. Blubaugh (2-0), a 23-year-old right-hander ranked eighth in the Houston chain, opens the series for Sugar Land. In three appearances and two starts over 15.1 innings, Blubaugh has a 0.59 ERA and 0.65 WHIP with 19 strikeouts. The Aces had not declared a starter for Tuesday.
